Recruitment of sailors to the navy takes place through the Naval Recruitment Organisation.

Red Cross Society came into existence in India in 1920. It is a humanitarian voluntary organization and has nearly 700 branches across the State and Union Territories. It has an administrative body consisting of 19 members and a secretary. The President nominates six members and the remaining 12 members are elected from the State and Union Territories.
